Places to Visit

Vijay Vitthal Temple

It is one of the historical temples of South India. Every part of it has been finely carved from stone. The pillars have also been made with great art. This temple has been constructed in Dravidian architecture, reflecting the art culture of Southern India. Hampi Rath Temple is a part of this. This part of the temple is built like a chariot. The chariot of Hampi will seem like a real chariot as if it is just about to move. Maha Mandap, stone chariot, and musical pillar are the main attractions here. You can come here from 8:30 am to 6 pm.

Virupaksha Temple

This temple is located on the southern bank of the Tungabhadra River. In the centre of the temple, there is a large pillared verandah known as Rang Mandap. The grandeur of the temple is worth seeing. this temple is most crowded with devotees in February as the annual festival of the temple is celebrated during this time. The temple is open for visitors from 9 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm.

When you come to Hampi, do not forget to come here. This is the most popular market here from where you can collect a lot of things and take them with you as souvenirs. In the eastern part of the market, you will find local villagers selling some traditional items. There is a huge statue of Nandi at the eastern end of the road to Hampi Bazaar. 

Archaeological Museum

You can come here to spend some quality time. This is a famous place that tourists do not forget to visit. It has been divided into four parts. In the first part, you will be able to see the model of Hampi. In the second part, you will see the remains of some sculptures dedicated to this only place. In the third part, there is an exhibition of tools, etc. In the fourth, you will get to see artifacts before and after written history. Archaeological ruins have been preserved here.

Yantradhaar Hanuman Temple

This temple is situated in a cave on the top of the mountain. Where you will see Lord Hanuman meditating. Of course, Hanuman Ji must have chosen this place so that he could meditate in an atmosphere of peace. You too will experience immense peace by coming here. Tungabhadra River also flows near this mountain. Along with religious importance, you will also be able to see a beautiful view from here.

The largest bathhouse of Hampi which is famous for its amazing architecture. Despite being built 500 years ago, it has retained its beauty. This is a building built on 30 square km, in the middle of which this bathroom has been built. Artwork has been done on every corner of it.

Prasanna Virupaksha Temple

This temple, which gives a glimpse of mythology and history, is built underground. It is a Shiva temple which is an integral part of of this place. Inside it includes a main verandah, a courtyard, and a small verandah. There is greenery all around the temple where you can sit and enjoy the beauty. There is no time limit for visiting here. You can come here anytime. But it is said that it is better to come here before sunset.

Hemkut Hill Temple

This is a memorable temple and a place of amazing artwork. This place is considered the best place to view sunrise and sunset. The architecture of this temple is completely different from the architecture done during the Vijayanagara Empire. The groups of temples here have three chambers which together form a pyramid-shaped roof. You can come here whenever you wish from morning to evening.

Krishna Temple

This temple was built by Krishnadevaraya after the success of the Odisha campaign. This is the most famous place for its beautiful artwork. Krishnadevaraya’s love for art and architecture is visible in this temple.

The temple is surrounded by many pillars and you will see small statues at some distance. There is a grand verandah on the eastern side of the temple. On its southern side, you will see banana gardens from where you can get fresh bananas.

Matanga Hill

This place is one of the most talked about tourist places in India. This is the highest point of this place from where you can see a picturesque view. Tourists who are fond of photography do not forget to come here. By coming here you can take lots of pictures of beautiful scenes and take them with you.

Best Time To Visit Hampi

The winter season (October to February) is the best time to visit here.  It experiences moderate and dry weather throughout the year. The weather is moderately cool except in the afternoon, which is perfect for visiting the World Heritage Site of Hampi. Some of the most important festivals here are also celebrated during the winter season. Summers have high temperatures and hence, between March to June is not the best time to visit here. Monsoon brings average but inconsistent rainfall, keeping temperatures mild but humid. One can choose to visit here during the monsoon season starting in July and till September. The region rarely receives heavy rainfall, but it is advisable to stay away from slippery areas to avoid accidents during your visit to this place. Since winter is considered to be the best time to visit here, you can enjoy the Vijaya Utsav (Festival of Hampi) in November.

How To Reach here By Flight
